For CYFD-Involved Youth & Families

Specialized Clinical Assessments for Problematic Sexual Behavior

Our Comprehensive Assessments are designed for youth and families involved with the New Mexico Children, Youth & Families Department (CYFD) where problematic sexual behavior has been identified or alleged. These evaluations support informed care, supervision, placement, and reunification decisions.

Problematic sexual behavior may involve violations of consent, illegal activity, emotional or relational harm, impulsive or risky sexual acts, sharing of explicit content, or unsafe interactions in online environments. These behaviors often emerge in the context of trauma, instability, or developmental concerns and require focused clinical attention to determine next steps.

This service is appropriate for any youth currently involved with CYFD who has displayed or is alleged to have engaged in sexually problematic behavior, as well as for minors or family members in CYFD-involved households who may require professional evaluation for concerning behavior.

Biopsychosocial-Sexual Assessment (Starting at $1,000 + tax)

A streamlined assessment for clients who may not require a complete psychosexual evaluation but still need a formal clinical opinion regarding sexual behavior concerns.

This assessment includes:
• Primary interview with the client
• Collateral review and additional interviews (if available)
• Use of age-appropriate psychometrics (as applicable)
• Clinical recommendations in a formal written report

We use trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and evidence-based methods. Each case is approached with clinical neutrality and cultural sensitivity, focusing on protective factors, areas of concern, and actionable recommendations. We do not assign labels or risk scores but provide clear clinical guidance that CYFD staff, legal teams, and caregivers can use to support long-term stability and safety.

Each assessment includes a clinical interview with the youth or individual being evaluated, caregiver interviews when appropriate, collateral review of CYFD case files and supporting documentation, and psychometric testing tailored to developmental needs. A formal report outlining clinical findings, identified vulnerabilities and strengths, and recommendations for treatment, supervision, or placement is provided.

Assessments are typically completed within 7 to 10 business days after the final interview. Expedited timelines may be available when needed.
