Compulsive Sexual Behavior Group
Support for when sexual behaviors feel out of control.
Many people describe their struggles as “sex addiction.” It’s important to understand that compulsive sexual behavior is not classified as an addiction in medical or psychological research. This distinction matters: the problem is not about being “addicted” in the same way as drugs or alcohol, but about compulsions that can be understood, managed, and changed. At the same time, the lived reality is just as difficult—compulsions, secrecy, shame, relationship conflict, and repeated failed attempts to change. Our group provides a structured, professional space where those struggles can finally be addressed. This group serves:
- People who feel unable to control their sexual behaviors or pornography use
- Those who have tried to stop on their own but continue to struggle
- Anyone experiencing shame, secrecy, or relationship conflict because of their sexual behavior
Group therapy offers something that individual therapy alone cannot. It brings together people facing similar challenges, creating a sense of connection and shared accountability. Members learn from each other’s insights and experiences, while the therapist provides structure and guidance. For many, the group becomes a supportive community where new skills are practiced and reinforced.
Sessions meet weekly for 90 minutes and are led by licensed therapists with specialized training in sexual health and problematic sexual behavior. Enrollment is ongoing: after an initial assessment to confirm the group is the right fit, you can begin attending.
Most major insurance plans, including Medicaid, can be used for participation. Private pay options are also available if insurance does not apply.
